Peripheral rather than hepatic, insulin resistance and atherogenic lipoprotein phenotype predict cardiovascular complications in NIDDM
In diabetic patients impaired extrahepatic insulin sensitivity and reduced LDL particle size was associated with hypertension and microalbuminuria and in the same patients there is an increased incidence of cardiovascular complications.
